The World Heart Federation finally agrees…

NEWS: Physical inactivity is as dangerous for the heart as smoking a pack of cigarettes every day, the World Heart Federation warns.

World Heart Federation warned that physical inactivity doubles the chance of developing cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Lack of exercise increases the risk of hypertension by one third and Type 2 diabetes by half and both these problems are major risk factors for CVD.

Nearly 85% of the North American population fails to exercise enough and this has a major implication for healthcare costs, it warns.

Professor Mario Maranhao, president of the World Heart Federation, said: “Even moderate exercise such as a brisk walk for 30 minutes most days helps manage weight, cuts stress, anxiety and depression.”
